Grand Rapids, Mich.—Mechanical contractor and fabricator Andy J. Egan Co. (Egan) has proved its staying power as an Elite winner in the West Michigan Best & Brightest Companies to Work For awards program. Last week, the National Association for Business Resources (NABR) once again presented Egan with the "Best of the Best" Small Business award, marking the fourth year the company has earned this specific award, which honors best practices in human resources programs. In addition, the NABR recognized Egan as an "Iconic Winner," companies who have received five or more Elite honors. To date, Egan has received 14 Elite Awards in West Michigan and has been named one of the region's top employers for 18 consecutive years.
An independent research firm evaluates each company based on key measures across multiple categories. The three companies -- grouped by small, medium and large businesses -- that excel in all categories earn the title "Best of the Best." Egan has also been awarded Elite honors in categories such as “Recruitment, Selection & Orientation,” “Compensation, Benefits & Employee Solutions,” and "Communication & and Shared Vision.”
When announcing the winners, the NABR acknowledged Egan with the following statement, "This company is committed to fostering an engaged workforce, providing various resources and benefits such as tuition reimbursement and family season tickets to local sports teams... With a remarkable turnover rate of less than 1% and an average tenure of 11-20 years, their HR department's dedicated engagement with all employees contributes significantly to their success."
Since 2014, Egan has also been recognized as one of the nation’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For. Egan has earned two Elite Awards in the national competition and has twice appeared on list of top 101 employers nationwide.
