Grand Rapids, Mich.—Mechanical contractor and fabricator Andy J. Egan Co. (Egan) has earned the top spot in West Michigan's Best and Brightest Companies to Work For awards program for 2023. On Tuesday, May 16, the National Association for Business Resources (NABR) presented Egan with the "Best of the Best" Small Business award, one of 13 “Elite” honors presented to companies who represent the best practices in human resources programs. This is the third consecutive year that Egan has earned the "Best of the Best" Small Business award.
The company received an additional award from the NABR in February, which honored Egan as one of the Top 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in the Nation. Egan was among the 14 elite winners in the national competition as well, taking home the award for "Recruitment and Selection." The winning companies were selected from among 4,500 organizations that were nominated in 2022. Egan appeared in two editions of the Wall Street Journal earlier this year, alongside other Top 101 and Elite winners.
Egan has been named one of West Michigan's top companies for 17 consecutive years. An independent research firm evaluates each company based on key measures across multiple categories. The three companies -- grouped by small, medium and large businesses -- that excel in all categories earn the title "Best of the Best." The company first earned this elite award in 2013, and has earned 13 total elite awards, including categories such as “Recruitment, Selection & Orientation,” “Compensation, Benefits & Employee Solutions,” and "Communication & and Shared Vision.”
Since 2014, Egan has also been recognized as one of the nation’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For. This is Egan's second elite award in the national competition and second appearance on list of top 101 employers nationwide.
