Lansing, Mich.—Mechanical contractor and fabricator Andy J. Egan Co. (Egan) is celebrating a major award for one of its recently completed projects, Delta Energy Park. ENR Midwest has named Delta Energy Park this year's "Best Project" in the Energy and Industrial category. Egan was part of the project team selected by the joint venture between Barton Malow and Clark Construction to deliver this new natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant to the Lansing Board of Water and Light.
The magazine noted that all of the 2022 Best Project winners perservered in the face of significant challenges. Delta Energy Park, like many projects, was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Construction on the three-year project began in March of 2019, and safety concerns in 2020 required the team to modify the schedule in order to limit risk of exposure. Even with these delays, Egan was part of the team that completed the project below the original budget, which required the fabrication and installation of more than 44,188 linear ft of piping.
