Grand Rapids, Mich.—Mechanical contractor and fabricator Andy J. Egan Co. (Egan) announced today that the company is donating $10,000 to the YMCA’s 10th Annual Back to School Bash. The donation is part of the Egan $100k Giveaway, a yearlong celebration of Egan’s 100th Anniversary during which the company is contributing $100,000 to West Michigan charities.
Since 2010, the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids has hosted the Back to School Bash, a free family event that supports thousands of children and families in the community. Attendees receive a free backpack full of supplies such as markers, glue sticks, pencils, folders, notebooks and other school essentials, with the goal of lessening the economic hardship of back-to-school shopping for families in the Grand Rapids community. The event also includes art projects, games, face painting, treats, giveaways and more.
“The YMCA is committed to ensuring that every child reaches their full potential,” says Kevin Myers, District Executive Director, David D. Hunting YMCA. “Through Egan’s support of the Back to School Bash, we’ll be able to provide many more kids with the tools they need to succeed this school year and beyond.”
This year’s Back to School Bash will take place on Friday, August 2 at 6 p.m. at the David D. Hunting YMCA, located at 475 Lake Michigan Dr. NW. “Egan has supported the Back to School Bash in a smaller capacity in past years,” says Beth Jester, spokesperson for Egan. “It’s inspirational to see the community come together to invest in students so that they can excel. We’re excited to mark milestone anniversaries for both organizations with this donation.”
