We are looking for an experienced Building Automation Controls Engineer to be responsible for the management of projects, design, documentation, programming, service calls, testing, and implementation of commercial building automation system projects. The successful candidate will be able to perform engineering on several projects while meeting or exceeding time, quality, and budget constraints for each project.

Duties:

  • Analyze project performance standards, specifications, cost estimate, and deliverables.
  • Work with the customer and review project specifications, drawings, and project specific documents to establish project intent.
  • Develop a Building Automation System to meet the requirements, including coordinated drawings and product selection.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned projects.
  • Responsible for procuring all the parts needed for the project to ensure the technicians/electricians have what is needed to install and start-up the project.
  • Interact with clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field.
  • Develop programs with JCI software (CCT) for application specific programming and perform system simulations to ensure proper operation.
  • Design/Startup/Commission supervisory level system controllers (FX-90’s Niagara)
  • In charge of creating the programs needed to make the equipment operate as designed
  • In charge of creating all graphics associated with the project.
  • Create accurate graphics that are free of mistakes to match the system you are working on (missed links, incorrect data, etc.)
  • In charge of setting up all alarming, including remote notification alarms.
  • In charge of setting up all trending.
  • Manage project cost and time constraints.
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with construction managers & customers and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support.
  • Perform weekly site visits and provide updates to the Project Manager.
  • Perform all warranty work after project turnover to the customer.
  • Perform and document system commissioning and sequential testing.
  • Provide system operation owner’s training, documentation, written operating instructions.
  • Provide the Control Technicians, Service Technicians, and customers with remote support and control service calls via VPN/Workbench/CCT.
  • Aid with onsite service calls as needed.

Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge and understanding of HVAC industry applications, ability to read and understand MEP drawings and specifications, and electrical, network and control wiring diagrams (Required)
  • Degree in Engineering (preferably HVAC Engineering).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio (Required)

Requirements:

  • Computer experience
  • Working knowledge of BAS engineering software packages, specifically Johnson Controls Facility Explorer or Metasys, and Tridium Niagara.
  • BS degree in Engineering (preferable HVAC Engineering degree).
  • Comfortable working around 3 Phase, 460-volt electrical panels.
  • Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, & Visio, MS project.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects at a time.
  • Self-motivated individual that proves to be able to work in a team environment or alone.
  • Project management and supervision skills.
  • Superior organizational skills and time management.
  • Decision making ability, accountability, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, Day Shift, 8 Hours/Day
