As Chairman of Andy J. Egan Co, Tom Jasper serves as the principal counselor to the entire executive team and mentor to his three children as they take on leadership roles within the fourth-generation, family-owned company. Tom joined the family business as a teenager, working alongside his father and grandfather, Earl and Harold Jasper. He served as the company’s President from 1990 to 2015, a time in which Egan grew from a reputable plumbing and heating company serving Grand Rapids to a full service mechanical contractor and world-class fabricator.
The fourth generation in his family to lead Andy J. Egan Co., Andy Jasper began sweeping the shop floor at age 14 and instantly became hooked on the trade. For nearly 20 years, he worked his way up through the company ranks, getting his hands dirty and learning the ins and outs of mechanical contracting as a truck driver, estimator, project manager and other roles before earning the title of President. Andy works to ensure the company continues its legacy through the values on which it was founded: hard work, integrity and generosity. He and his wife Marie also enjoy volunteering at their church and at Walker Charter Academy, where their four children attend.
Ask most Vice Presidents what they do, and you’ll rarely hear the reply, “Anything our employees ask of me.” Amy Jones’s unique, employee-centric perspective is what’s landed Andy J. Egan Co. at the top of list of 101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For both regionally and nationally 10 times in the last 10 years. Before taking on the title of Vice President, Amy managed the company’s Human Resources department, but started at the family company part time while in high school. She saw a future need at the growing company in human resources, and pursued that career path at Michigan State University, from which she graduated in 2006. Her passion for people extends beyond her work life, and she’s recently become a wish granter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. As a family, Amy, her husband Ryan and their two young children also volunteer with Santa Claus Girls.
Much like her siblings, Tracy Siepker joined the family business while she was still in high school, making deliveries to jobsites and handling administrative tasks for several major projects – DeVos Place, the Spectrum Health Meijer Heart Center and Metro Health, to name a few. A graduate of Calvin College, Tracy earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting and business, and today manages Andy J. Egan Co.’s accounting department. Some of her major achievements have been implementing company-wide software upgrades to improve company operations. Outside of work, she is passionate about youth ministry and enjoys volunteering at her church. Tracy and her husband, Frank, have two young children and enjoy spending time in Northern Michigan.
Shortly after Andy J. Egan Co., opened the doors of its Fabrication Shop in 1999, Pat Heffron joined the company as a shop assistant and driver. And though he’s taken roles in other areas of the company, such as large construction and estimating, he’s always been drawn to the unique challenges of fabrication. This means designing what seems impossible and manufacturing the end product in an expedited timeline. As Director of Fabrication, he manages a team of people that deliver on these expectations, both for internal Egan projects and external customers. When he’s not spending time with wife, Heidi, and their two teenage sons, Pat is a coach for the Lowell Area Select Soccer Organization and an avid outdoorsman.
Mike Pulte has been part of the mechanical contracting industry for nearly 30 years, having started his career as plumber, pipefitter/welder and project manager with his father’s company at age 20. Shortly after, he landed into an apprenticeship with Local 174, making him a skilled tradesman that took on many different roles before joining Andy J. Egan Co. in 1999. In his current role as Director of Construction, Mike focuses on project management, customer relations and establishing joint ventures with external partners. He and his wife, Jill, have two daughters, Rose and Isabella. Mike coaches girls’ basketball at their school, a volunteer role that he jokes can be as challenging – and at times more challenging – than his day job. In addition, Mike enjoys traveling and fishing with his family.
While studying HVACR Engineering Technology at Ferris State University in the late 90s, Chris Weaver became enamored with seeing ideas become reality through 3D modeling. As Andy J. Egan Co.’s first AutoCAD specialist, he worked with the company’s skilled tradesmen to implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) throughout the company in 2001, at a time when few mechanical contractors were adopting these techniques. Today, Chris is Egan’s Director of Technology and works to ensure the company is on the forefront of construction technology at a national level, even influencing new technology by working with the industry’s best software providers. He serves on the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) Technology Committee and on the Board of Directors for the American Subcontractors Association of Michigan (ASAM). Originally from Atlanta, Mich. – the elk capital of Michigan -- Chris, his wife Angela and their three children enjoy traveling to Northern Michigan to visit his hometown.
Chris Brummel joined Andy J. Egan Co. in 1997 as the company’s first engineer. Previously, Egan’s focus had been on bid-and-spec projects, but looked to grow a division focused on Design-Build opportunities. Within the first six months, Chris’s Design-Build department of one was profitable, and it grew exponentially from there with projects such as the Nelson Metals, Northlake Correctional Facility, and Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, Herman Miller, Haworth, Amway Nutrilite and Perrigo, to name a few. Today, the department has eight Design-Build engineers, including five Professionally Licensed Engineers, which Chris manages as Director of Engineering. A graduate of Calvin College, Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and Professional Engineering License from the State of Michigan. In his spare time, Chris enjoys fishing, traveling and leading his church’s high school youth group. He, his wife, and their three kids are very active in their church (Third Reformed) and often spend their spring break on mission trips with other families.
When Andy J. Egan Co. opened the doors of its fabrication shop to external projects, it also opened its business to customers in both new industries and new geographic locations. Rick Atkins, an experienced sales manager and fabrication veteran, joined Egan in 2003 to grow opportunities in these new markets. Within 10 years, the fabrication shop was serving customers on a global stage, and Rick was promoted to Director of Business Development. In this role he works to develop new customers across all divisions of Egan and its two sister companies, encompassing sales, marketing and brand management. Outside the office, Rick enjoys leisure travel, biking and yardwork and spending time with his wife, five adult children and their growing families.
With more than 30 years of hands-on HVAC/Controls experience, Jeff Bechtel has been Andy J. Egan Co.’s Director of Service & Controls since 2004. Early in his career, he attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College while working as a full-time service technician. Jeff has also had specialty training at both the national and local levels. Jeff held service manager and vice president roles at other companies within the industry prior to joining Egan. At Egan, he has helped establish and grow a strong presence for the company’s Service and Controls Group, including an office in Kalamazoo. Today he leads a very skilled team of more than 40 HVAC service, building controls, industrial controls professionals and support staff, which has been awarded several national, industry-recognized achievements, such as the MSCA Green Star Certification and the MSCA National Energy Solutions Award. His diverse knowledge of systems and building facilities aids his biggest strength: his ability see things differently and identify opportunities for improvement. Jeff’s greatest success at work has been watching the Egan Service and Controls team excel in customer service while providing industry-leading solutions to help achieve clients’ goals. His biggest personal success, however, has been raising three children – plus golden retrievers -- with his wife.
With nearly 25 years of industry experience, Chris Peceny has an in-depth knowledge of HVAC that translates to efficient solutions for Andy J. Egan Co.’s customers. He has led the Sheet Metal and Insulation department since Egan first began offering this service in 2004. Over the past decade, Chris has established the company’s reputation for its HVAC work on major projects such as the Van Andel Institute, JW Marriott, Grand Rapids Art Museum and more. As Director of Sheet Metal and Insulation, Chris oversees three project managers and more than 30 installers. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan and has completed various leadership training programs, including MCAA’s Institute of Project Management. In his leisure time, Chris enjoys hiking, and has trekked the White and Presidential mountain ranges, and journeyed to the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
"Here at the hospital, we see a lot of different mechanical companies in action, but I must say your company is the finest we have ever dealt with. In the months that your people were on the job, the secret to your company’s success became evident. Your employees are some of the best trained and most professional that I have ever dealt with."
